- Information & Service Counter
Principal information and reception center.
Site of morning check-in by on-campus recruiters. Visitors may have their questions answered,
be referred to appropriate services and resources,
or receive basic guidance on the many services of
the Center.
- Career Resource Library
Supported by many corporate donors, this is the
center for most student activity. This 2,400 square foot library has some
3,500 books and brochures, including nearly 1,000
employer information binders.
The computerized card catalog helps guide
visitors through the offerings. The library is spacious,
well-lighted and furnished, and provides a comfortable
space to leisurely review one’s career field, research
employers, and even conduct a job search.
The library is easily accessed by persons
with a disability and assistance is available to
everyone.
Our staff of Career Ambassadors is available to
answer questions, provide basic career counseling
and guidance, and to review resumes and cover letters.
A bank of computers offers quick access to
the World Wide Web. In addition to information in print
– many of which may be purchased at the library
counter – students can review hundreds of videotapes
of company recruiting materials, job search skills,
CRC workshops, and other multimedia items of interest.
Also available are such computer-assisted career
guidance (CACG) or assessment testing programs as
the Strong Interest and the Myers-Briggs Type
Indicator, the use of any of which should always
be preceded and followed by proper interpretation from a
Career Resource Center counselor.
Please visit the Career Development reception
area to inquire about the counseling walk-in schedule,
and then schedule use of a CACG or assessment program
at the library.
- Student Government Employer Resource
Room
This
room is reserved for employer use only. It is a showcase of literature on UF’s
colleges, academic programs and general campus information,
in addition to brochures on national and regional
associations, the room is also equipped with telephones,
a fax/copier, and a computer to permit access to
our Gator CareerLink system or to search the World
Wide Web.
- FP&L Employer Relations/Co-op/Internship Waiting Area
This is a comfortable waiting area for students
awaiting appointments with staff members to discuss
cooperative education or internship experience opportunities,
the on-campus interview process, or for general
counseling matters.
It also serves as a check-in point for employers
conducting on-campus interviews.
- Sears Career Development Waiting Area
Similarly, this pleasant area serves as a waiting
point for clients wishing to speak to a counselor
and those with appointments with the professional
counselors of the Career Development group.
- Philip Morris USA Career Development Laboratory
All of the Center’s educational activites are taught here, as are many special presentations and programs.
A handout describing the curriculum of these
workshops and a bookmark with the current workshop
calendar is available throughout the CRC. Check bulletin boards for details on
special activities.
- Interview Modules “A” and
“B”
Most the Center’s thousands of on-campus interviews
each year are conducted in these 20 rooms.
Check daily interview postings on the web,
on bulletin boards near the interview modules. and
at the entrance to the Center for precise module
and room number for your particular interview.
These postings will also contain details
on interview locations elsewhere in the J. Wayne
Reitz Union.
