Career
Development Courses (CDC)
For many students, the career development process can
be overwhelming. Whether choosing a major, finding an
internship/co-op or finding a job, there are many factors
to consider and many resources to explore. Putting all
the information together in a meaningful and useful way
can be difficult. The Career Development courses offered
at the Career Resource Center provide students with a
vehicle to organize all the available information. Each
course examines the resources, strategies and factors
affecting career decision making. This format allows students
to receive guidance from their instructor while developing
their action plan. Class size is limited in order to provide
the most individualized attention possible.
The Career Development courses aim to provide the student
with the necessary tools for career decision making. Upon
completion of each course, students will develop a personalized
plan to meet their goals. Each course incorporates several
assignments, all of which will make up each student's
individualized plan of action. Given the high volume of
assignments, these courses are designed for students who
are motivated to work on their career decision making
plan.
All the Career Development courses are designed to facilitate
the student's personal exploration and personal development.
Students will be asked to explore their personality, their
values and the ways in which these impact their career
decision making process. The classroom style is highly
interactive with classroom participation, an expected
and necessary component. Students are encouraged to attend
with an open mind and a positive attitude.
