When to Recruit
Experience has shown that recruiting is most effective when coordinated with a career event on campus. The CRC has created a Career Events Calendar to assist companies in identifying productive on-campus recruiting periods throughout the year.

Where To Recruit

Though the vast majority of on campus interviewing is done at the Career Resource Center in the J. Wayne Reitz Union, a number of interviews are coordinated or held elsewhere on and off campus.

The CRC works cooperatively with several offices / departments which are involved in recruiting activity.

The CRC will provide interviewing space if :

    1. The schedules are set-up and coordinated through the CRC
    2. The company wishes to use CRC recruiting facilities but desires to set up appointments directly with the students.

Some activities create confusion, therefore the CRC does not:

    1. Coordinate schedules to be held at locations other than the CRC / Reitz Union building
    2. Provide space for schedules coordinated by another on-campus office or department.

The Scheduling Coordinator can supply information regarding other Offices / Departments involved in recruiting activity.

Prior to Contacting the CRC

STEP 1 - Determine (1) the nature and number of the positions, and (2) the number of rooms which will be required by the recruiting team.

STEP 2 - Create a brief position description. Include title and duties.

STEP 3 - Establish the criteria which will determine if an applicant will be considered for interview. Include: information on citizenship requirements, degree levels, graduation dates (will Alumni be considered?), majors, and any desired characteristics or skills. Must they attend an Information or testing session?

STEP 4 - Determine the interview length (30 min., 45 min., ...) and schedule type which will be used to manage student access to interviews. The date by which the Scheduling Coordinator must receive information to properly manage each type of schedule is listed in your interview visit date confirmation packet

Before the Recruiting Visit
STEP 1 - Reserve the interviewing date(s) It is recommended that this step be accomplished at least 8 weeks prior to the interview date(s) (dates may be reserved up to one year in advance). Scheduling is generally done on a first-come, first-served basis. As interview space is limited, available dates fill quickly.

STEP 2 - Supply detailed schedule information that is received in your interview confirmation packet. Print and fill in the Interview Schedule Information Guide form and FAX or mail in the information to the scheduling coordinator.

STEP 3 - Identify Preselect candidates (if preselecting for interviews). Gator CareerLink allows your firm to make its pre-selections for interviews on-line or fax the names and email addresses to the scheduling coordinator.

STEP 4 - Check the status of the schedule one week prior to the on-campus date. This is easily done as your firm has access to your schedules, contact your company's recruiting coordinator for Phone Number ID and Password.

Getting to Campus

The Afternoon Prior to and the Day(s) of the Interview(s)

    Recruiter Packets

Sechedule information and resumes can be directly printed from the web, but final Recruiter Packets containing schedule information, resumes of candidates, employer recap sheet, and transcript request form are available after 4 pm the afternoon prior to the interview date. If requested by the employer, these can be left for after hours access at ONLY the Reitz Union Hotel Guest Desk on the ground floor of the Reitz Union. The CRC cannot deliver recruiter packets to other hotels.

    Parking

Pick up a parking permit at any of the campus information Kiosks . If staying at the Reitz Union Hotel, parking is provided, otherwise parking is available across the street from the J. Wayne Reitz Union on Museum Road.

Please Note: Please use Hotel Shutters or arrive at the CRC before 7:45 am to obtain a parking space. All parking on the UF campus requires a valid and dated parking permit (with the exception of metered spaces), parking regulations are STRICTLY enforced. Reminder: Tickets cannot be "fixed" by the CRC.

    Room Assignment / Locations

For schedules set-up through the CRC and/or where the CRC provides interviewing facilities:

Schedules and room assignments are posted at the entrance to the Career Resource Center.

Receptions/Information sessions are normally held the evening prior to the day of the first interviews. Receptions/Information session locations are posted as soon as they are set up by the Scheduling Coordinator, and remain until after the on-campus date.

    Employer Check-In

Even if the recruiter printed their packet from the web or picked up their packet the afternoon prior to the interview date, recruiters MUST check in at the Employer Reception desk in the Career Resource Center each morning that they interview. The personnel at the Employer Reception Desk can assist you throughout the day. If you require assistance, do not hesitate to ask.

    Employer Check-Out

Recruiter should check out at the Front Desk and drop off their completed interview recap sheet(s).

After Recruiting Follow-Up

A very important part of a company's recruiting effort is how effective they are after the interview. Experience has shown that students often measure potential employer interest by the quality of their follow-up procedures. The following suggestions are encouraged for your recruiting efforts:

Inform Students: Advise students at the end of the interview the date on or before they can expect to hear the results of their interview. Candidates typically hear from most employers within 2-3 weeks of the interview.

Second Interviews: It is in the company's best interest to speak directly to candidates and inform them of the company's interest. Specify how arrangements will be handled and expenses will be covered. It is also advisable to send a written invitation to avoid any misunderstanding. The CRC will also arrange room(s) within the CRC or J. Wayne Reitz Union for any second interviews desired on-campus. Call the appropriate CRC Company Contact to make such arrangements.
