Approaching Employers
When approaching employers as non-citizens, it is important to be well-informed and honest about your work eligibility. Realistically, employers have different expectations about visas and they will know you are an international student from your overseas education and previous work experience. It is ok to wait for employers to bring up the subject, but if they don’t, you should mention it by the end of the interview. Since many employers have fears about hiring a foreign national, make sure that you are well informed about the H-1B process.
Realize that being an international student is an asset to an employer! You have knowledge about a different culture, speak a different language and have proven to be very adaptable. Approach employers confidently, but not boastfully, knowing that your skills and experience make you very marketable.
