We put together specialized workshops to meet the needs of master's and Ph.D students. These workshops are held in the fall and spring semesters.

So You Want to Work in Academia (Fall)

We've created several workshops to provide you with a full-range of information about careers in academia. If you are interested in becoming a professor or researcher, be sure to attend.

Learn more about academic topics:

The Academic Curriculum Vitae (CV) & Cover Letter. This workshop will cover techniques, formatting and strategies for writing your CV and cover letter specifically for academic positions.
The Academic Job Search. Beginning your job search and navigating the academic landscape can be difficulat. Let us provide you with solutions to help simplify this process.
Voices from Academia: Career Panel & Networking. A panel of current faculty members from diverse institutions will provide you with insight into working in academia. Following the panel presentation, you will have an opportunity to network with the panelists. This presentation is co-sponsored by I-Cubed and the Teaching and Writing Center.
The Academic Interview. Unique to higher education is the academic interview. The session will focus on interviewing strategies and techniques to survive the academic interview.
Developing a Teaching / Research Statement. Teaching and research statements add depth to your CV and your application. We'll review strategies for both and provide you with resources to complete your own.

So You Want to Work Outside of Academia (Spring)

These workshops provide you with information about careers outside of academia. If you are looking for non-academic career options, be sure to attend.

Job Search Outside of Academia. How do you locate non-academic opportunities? Stop by this workshop to learn about strategies and resources. Job Search information will be provided for residents and international students.
Non-Academic Career Panel. Learn how others have put their education to use. Check out our advanced-degree panelists who are waiting to discuss working in non-academic pursuits.
Applying for Non-Academic Jobs. Applying for jobs outside of academia? Learn how to convert your CV into a dynamic resume. And while you're there, we'll show you how to write a cover letter that will get you noticed.
Network and Interview for Non-Academic Jobs. Your resume and cover letter may be fantastic, but networking and interviewing are equally as important. Proper presentation takes proper preparation. Stop by to learn networking and interviewing skills for pursuing non-academic jobs.
