International Internships/Volunteering

  • American-Scandinavia Foundation: The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) promotes international understanding through educational and cultural exchange between the United States and Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Has an extensive program of fellowships, grants, trainee placement, publishing, membership offerings, and cultural activities.
  • Cross Cultural Solutions: A site with international volunteer and internship opportunities in health, educational and social services.
  • DAAD/German Academic Exchange Service: Summer internship program for American students in the German Parliament (Bundestag).
  • DAAD/Research Internships in Science and Engineering: German exchange program for research internships in science and engineering.
  • Dublin Internships: Internships in different fields in Dublin, Ireland.
  • Hansard Society Scholars Program: Scholar program in the UK for students to gain experience with British government and the Parliament system.
  • AIPT: (Association for International Practical Training) can assist students and graduates with obtaining work permits for finding internships outside their organizations.
  • CDS: Offers different paid internship and practical experience programs for undergraduates and graduates in Germany, Argentina, Spain, and Russia.
  • Idealist.org: One of the top job search sites for non-profit work, including links for international positions.
  • Intern Abroad: A good site with many different international internships.
  • International Cooperative Education (ICE): Each summer ICE arranges for students to travel to Europe, Australia, Asia and South America to work as paid interns in an array of employment fields including retail sales, hospitals, banking, education and engineering.
  • International Volunteer Programs Association (IVPA): A professional organization aimed at linking students with international volunteer and service opportunities, including opportunities for school credit in some cases.
