The School of Music offers various degrees for individuals
who are interested in pursuing music as a career. Areas
of specialization within the department of music include
performance, theory, composition, music history, church
music, and music combined with an outside field.
Department of Theater
College of Fine Arts
The Department of Theater offers degrees in all aspects
of theatrical performance, including acting, music theater
or dance, production, costume design, lightening design,
and scene design. Graduates from the Department of Theater
are prepared for careers in a variety of settings, including
Broadway-style productions, touring shows, regional
theaters, dinner theaters, summer theaters, operas,
university theaters, community theaters, television,
film, teaching, industry, therapy, and consulting. Careers
in the business end of the industry include personal
manager, concert promoter, business manager, booking
agent, tour coordinator, advance person, road manager
and press agent. Careers in performing and writing include,
show group, dance band, conductor, studio musician,
actor, soap opera actor, dancer, ballet dancer, choreographer,
clown, comedian, model, songwriter, playwright, screenwriter,
or scriptwriter. Careers in radio may include program
director, music director, disc jockey, radio talk show
host, news reported, promotion director, community affairs
director, advertising salesperson, or advertising copywriter.
Careers in television, film and video may include producer,
director, production assistant, camera operator, floor
manager, location scout, location manager, casting director,
scenic designer, costume designer, hairstylist, makeup
artist, property master, television talk show host,
video jockey, page, promotion director, production assistant,
editor, press agent and unit publicist. Careers in halls,
clubs, theater, and arenas may include facility director,
resident stage manager, resident sound technician, and
nightclub manager.

The Department of Art offers various majors leading
to degrees. These majors are designed for students who
plan to enter professional careers in visual art or
design, to teach art, or pursuegraduate study. The Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree is offered in the following areas:
printmaking, sculpture, drawing, painting, ceramics,
electronic intermedia, creative photography, and graphic
design. The Bachelor of Arts degree is offered in Art
History and Art Education as well as in General Arts
Studies.
