Become a Career Ambassador at the Career Resource Center!


Position Summary

Career Ambassadors serve as peer advisors, and are the initial liaisons between students and the Career Resource Center.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide career advising to UF students, which includes helping students find information on UF majors, researching job opportunities and employers, learning job search techniques and critiquing student resumes, cover letters, and personal statements.
  • Assist students in practicing interviewing skills by conducting and video taping mock interviews, and providing feedback on the student's performance.
  • Conduct career-related presentations at the CRC, in residence halls, classrooms, and student organization meetings. Presentation topics include general CRC information, choosing a major, resume preparation, interviewing techniques, and job search strategies.
  • Staff the Career Resource Center Library.

  • Aptitude for public speaking
  • Openness for learning

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3.0 GPA, Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours
  • Availability to take 2 credit spring semester course (Tuesday 7th and 8th) that trains ambassadors in resume critiquing, interviewing, CRC services and general advising skills
  • Work commitment of two semesters (excluding training semester)
  • Ability to work 10-12 hours per week in the Career library
  • Willingness to speak in front of groups for outreach opportunities several times per month
  • Submission of a résumé
  • Work-Study Preferred

Working Conditions

Career Ambassadors work in a variety of settings. Ninety percent of the time, employees will be expected work in the Career Resource Center Library during regular business hours (8 am - 5pm). However, outreaches and career fairs will require travel to off-site locations. Outreaches are typically conducted during weekend or evening hours.

Instructions will be provided to sign up for interviews, which will be conducted Sunday November 18th. Interview attire is business casual.
