The CRC has a staff of professional counselors and advanced counseling graduate students to help you in your career decision-making. If you are trying to decide on a major, choose a career, or make other career-related decisions, you may want to speak with one of our career counselors.
Individual career counseling involves students meeting with a counselor to discuss career decision-making and related issues influencing the decision. In general, career counseling requires 3-5 sessions after the initial drop-in appointment, where we explore the factors impacting your major or career decisions.
The CRC also offers an e-career counseling service where students can explore their major or career decision-making in an interactive chat session with a counselor. Many basic career decisions can be addressed in the online chat. For more complex major or career counselors, an in-person follow-up appointment may be necessary.
During an individual counseling session, the counselor and student may decide that a standardized vocational assessment may be helpful. For a small fee, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, and/or the Work of Work Inventory may be taken online with authorization. The student must meet with the counselor for an interpretation of results. If a student does not want to meet with a career counselor, we also offer the Kuder Career Planning System as a free online career assessment.
To schedule an appointment with a Career Counselor, please visit the CRC Library between 8am and 4:30pm or call 352-273-2327.
