Volunteer to help employers and students before during, and after Career Showcase. This unique opportunity allows you to meet and interact with recruiters while developing new skills.
Preparing for Showcase
Get ready for Showcase by taking care of the Essentials.
- Prior Preparation is key to a successful Showcase experience. Sign up for a Gator CareerLink account if you don't have one. Write and upload your resume on Gator CareerLink. This will enable you to view job databases and employers attending Showcase.
- Research attending organizations hiring in your desired field using Gator CareerLink.Consider company mission, products/services they provide, location(s) of organization, place in industry, positions available and work culture. Make a Top Ten List of organizations whose repsresentatives you want most to meet. Do your research and have questions prepared for the employers.
- Professional Appearance is a great complement to personal qualities, skills and experience. Leave a lasting first impression with professional attire and neat grooming.
- Make sure your Resume is up to par by getting it critiqued, attending resume writing workshops, and submitting it on Gator CareerLink. Use the Optimal Resume Service as a guide.
Items to Bring to Career Showcase
- Portfolio/folder to hold your resumes and notes
- Copies of your resume
- List of your targeted companies
- Pen and paper for making notes for yourself
- Gator1 ID card, this will be scanned as you enter
