Classes for Credit
Career development courses examine the resources, strategies and factors affecting career decision making. Students receive guidance from instructors, while developing individualized action plans and completing assignments to define and reach their goals.
Each course is designed to facilitate personal exploration and development. Students will be asked to explore their personalities, values and ways in which these impact the career decision-making process. Teaching styles are highly interactive with required class participation. Students are encouraged to attend with an open mind and positive attitude.

SLS 2301 is a freshman and sophomore level course designed to assist students approach career decision making by exploring their own skills and interests.
Students will identify and evaluate interests, skills, values and lifestyle preferences while relating them to educational and career planning; develop decision-making skills and take an active role in the career planning process.

SLS 2302 is a junior and senior level course designed to provide juniors and seniors with the necessary tools for their job search. Topics include interviewing, resumes writing and transitioning to professional life.
Students will develop a resume and other job correspondence, explore successful interview techniques and learn basic job search strategies.
