Gator Launch Mentoring Program
Gator Launch is a mentoring and education program for underrepresented second, third and fourth-year undergraduate UF students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to network with a mentor in the STEM field as well as participate in career development activities.
As a participant, you will learn about a variety of topics such as networking, professionalism, resume writing, interviewing, internships and career planning. For the mentoring component of the program, you will be matched with a professional currently working in your field of interest.
Beginning in the fall semester, you will participate in three 1.5-hr career development seminars each semester and communicate with your mentor at least three times per semester, in person and via phone/Skype. In the spring semester, you will job shadow your mentor for a firsthand experience of a typical day for a professional in your STEM field and you will meet key people in your mentor’s organization.
We define the term underrepresented broadly, to include gender, economic status, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and any other identities that are not represented in STEM fields.
There are two components to your application.
